urkuma is stefano de santis, born in the south-east of italy
(salento-finisterrae).
starting to write for theatre (the name of urkuma's site
"www.sanfocahotel.com" is the title of a surrealistic plot about the problem of refugees), he developed a personal way to express his theatrical texts in sound.
the word "urkuma" is an idiomatic expression of his salento-region: urkuma is the opposite of buddhist-nirvana's concept and it-he-she is entropic-anarchic-heterogeneous.

moznaby rzec, ze to w swoim specyficznym nabrzmialym minimalizmie muzyka ze szkoly raster-noton, ale byloby to uproszczenie. urkuma, czyl stefano de santis z bardzo poludniowych wloch, mowi, ze blizej stamtad do albanii niz do swiata zachodu. jest tez stamtad relatywnie niedaleko do kontynentu afrykanskiego, a ludzie ciagle jeszcze posluguja sie specjalnym dialektem bliskim jezykowi starogreckiemu. stefano wszystkie te elementy w swojej muzyce zawarl uzyskujac osobisty efekt, gleboko drazy racjonalna, europejska elektronike, prawie od czasow jej protopionierow, dodajac elementy znane i czytelne tylko w jego okolicy, ulotne, tajemniczne. mi od razu muzyka urkumy skojarzyla sie tworczoscia filmowa federico felliniego, gdzie realnosc sciera sie ze zdarzeniami surrealistycznymi, gdzie wytlumaczalne idzie w parze z nieodgadnionym. bajkowosc obudowana inzynieria, biel czernia i nic sie nie chwieje.
